Message from the President

Dear Members of the CAI Alabama Chapter!

We have two exciting events coming up! Both take place at The Club in Birmingham on Thursday, March 16th. In the morning we will be offering for the first time the CAI Business Partner Essentials course from 8am-11am, followed by a CAI Alabama Chapter Luncheon from 11:30am-1:00pm.

Please join us for these events and help us also spread the word about these outstanding educational opportunities brought to you right here in Alabama!

The Business Partner Essentials class will give Business Partners practical information and advice on working with community associations. We hope many of our business partner members will take advantage of this great learning experience. The class will be lead by Joel Meskin, Esq., CIRMS, CCAL Fellow of McGowan Program Administrators and Elbert Boothby, CMCA, AMS, PCAM of Boothby Realty. Please click here to find out more about this class and reserve your spot!

Music & Movie Licensing for Community Associations

Guidance Document on Music LicensingMany are unaware of the potential for copyright infringement in community associations. As a community association board member and community manager, it is important you know restrictions that may apply to your community related to playing music and movies.

A basic understanding of copyright law may help community associations assess their potential liability and develop appropriate compliance strategies and best practices.

CAI has developed a guidance document on this topic to provide you with answers to some general questions about music and movie licensing and community associations. Click here to view it.
