The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many community association residents to stay at home. They’re working remotely. They’re establishing home-based businesses. They’re spending more time using association common areas. They’re placing increased pressure on com​munity services. They’re finding the tiniest details to complain about. How can community managers and board members respond to or support the newest homeowner demands? T. Peter Kristian, a CAI past president and a large-scale community association manager, leads an expert panel through a discussion started by “Challenge Accepted” and “Home Is Where the Work Is”—articles featured in Common GroundTM magazine’s November/December 2020 issue. 

 

T. Peter Kristian, CMCA, LSM, PCAM, general manager, Hilton Head Plantation Property Owners Association, Inc., Hilton Head Island, S.C. ​Peter Kristian joined the Hilton Head Plantation staff as its general manager in February of 2000. Prior to that, Peter was with the Montgomery Village Foundation, a large-scale, self-managed homeowners association in suburban Maryland, for 16 years. He was an active member of CAI's Washington Metropolitan Chapter, and he served on the Washington Metropolitan Chapter's legislative committee and co-chaired CAI's Maryland Legislative Action Committee.

Peter curr​ently serves as chair of CAI's Government and Public Affairs Committee. He also serves on the federal LAC and the Large-Scale Managers Committee, which he served as past chair. Peter also serves as secretary of the South Carolina Legislative Action Committee. He received numerous national awards, including Author of the Year, Excellence in Designations, Excellence is Government and Public Affairs and the President's Award. In 2019, Peter was honored by the Board of Trustees with CAI's highest recognition, the Distinguished Service Award for his many contributions to CAI and the community association industry.​
