Congratulations to the newest CMCA in our chapter!
The Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®) is the only international certification program designed exclusively for managers of homeowner and condominium associations and cooperatives. The CMCA recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the fundamental knowledge required to manage community associations. Worldwide almost 9,000 individuals hold the CMCA designation. In Alabama, 38 individuals have a CMCA designation. |

Event Highlights January - April 4, 2024
We held 8 events in the first quarter of 2024: 2 webinars, 4 luncheons, 1 Board Leadership Development Workshop and 1 Serve Day. The total number of attendees at all four February luncheons combined is over 160!

Associations and Fraud

Far too often we have read the story of an embezzlement or theft involving a homeowner association and we may think; “How could this have happened- Wasn’t anyone watching the store?” In some cases, it may be true; no one was watching. But fraud, by definition, involves deception and people intent on wrongdoing don’t always make it easy for us. So how do we reduce the risk of a bad actor harming our community for their own financial gain? Fully addressing the issue is far beyond this post and remember there is always a cost/benefit to every prescription, but the following are some thoughts and steps to consider.
